WORKING TOGETHER TO EMPOWER RESIDENTS, STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY TIES, AND BUILD A MORE VIBRANT UNITED PHILLIPS
WHAT IS UNITED PHILLIPS?
United Phillips is not a separate or merged non-profit organization. United Phillips is a collaborative, a joint effort of Phillips West Neighborhood Organization (PWNO) and the Midtown-East Phillips Neighborhood Association, Inc. (Midtown-East Phillips), the two officially designated citizen-participation organizations for the Phillips West, Midtown Phillips, and East Phillips neighborhoods in the City of Minneapolis.
For over 100 years, the Phillips Community has been organizing on behalf of its residents. Despite our separations at the turn of the 21st century, the neighborhoods have continued to advocate for their communities and serve as loving stewards of the land. In 2023, the three Phillips neighborhood organizations represented here began collaborating closely to continue the legacy of the Phillips Community’s community-centered organizing as a unified front, honoring the distinct histories of each neighborhood and our shared histories.
MEET THE TEAM
The United Phillips team is made up of the staff from two organizations: Phillips West Neighborhood Organization (PWNO) and Midtown-East Phillips Neighborhood Association (Midtown-East Phillips). While PWNO's staff remains entirely separate, in 2023, the East Phillips Improvement Coalition (EPIC) and the Midtown Phillips Neighborhood Association Inc. (MPNAI) entered into a joint staffing agreement and began sharing staff members. As of April 2026, EPIC and MPNAI have formally merged into one organization, Midtown-East Phillips.
